Product Queries

Chapter 8 refers literally to chapter 8 of the Department of Transport Documentation Traffic Signs Manual. It details the requirements for signage, markings and safety guidelines for temporary traffic management situations on highways.

In relation to chapter 8 vehicle chevrons, the documentation details the specific requirements for any vehicles stopping on high speed roads (50mph+). Whilst the Traffic Signs Manual is not legislation, however Class R3B chevrons are a requirement for any vehicle stopping on high speed roads in Scotland & Wales and many authorities will not allow vehicles that do not comply onsite.

Chapter 8 vehicle markings are not yet legislation in England but vehicle conspicuity markings are a legaly requirement in Scotland and Wales.

Many companies in England choose to adopt the guidelines as a best practice to help protect their employees and other road users.

The grade of chevron you will need will very much depend on what your vehicle is used for.

• Entry Grade is suitable for class 1 - stopping on highways with passing traffic of up to 40mph

• Intermediate grade -suitable for stopping on highways with passing traffic of up to 50mph+. This is the minimum legal requirement for Scotland & Wales

•Premium Plus Grade - suitable for stopping on highways with passing traffic of 50mph+

No worries, just tell us which bit you have spoilt and for a small charge we will send you a replacement piece.  The replacement piece should colour match perfectly.

 To apply your chevron you will need:

•Microfiber cloth

•Cleaning fluid - Avery cleaner is recommended

•25 millimetre masking tape

•Vehicle magnets

•4 inch or 100 millimetre felt squeegee or hard squeegee with felt edge

Vehicles should be fitted with alternating chevron stripes consisting of red retro-reflective material and yellow non-reflective material. The red retro-reflective material is designed to provide maximum night-time visibility whilst the yellow non-reflective material provides good daytime visibility.

If stopping for works on a highway with passing traffic up to 40mph – class 2 Engineering Grade is compliant

If stopping for work on a highway with high speed passing traffic up to or over 50mph+ then class R3B material is required, which covers you anywhere in the UK.

Vehicles should be fitted with alternating red and yellow chevron stripes of no less than 150mm and no wider than 200mm in width and angled between 45 and 60 degrees. The chevrons should cover as much of the rear of the vehicle as possible, without obscuring windows, lights or the registration plate.

Conspicuity tape is a highly reflective material used to make your vehicle more visible at night.

Add products to your basket in the usual manner then go to checkout. On the screen where you can choose payment method you will find box 'COUPON' Enter promotion code and click 'Apply Coupon",  The relevant amount will now be deducted from your total.

For regular orders we offer a trade account with access to bulk order discounts plus there's no annual fee.

Before applying for a trade account you will need to have the following information to hand:

• Registered Company Number & VAT Number

• Full trading address and contact details for the account owner

Delivery and Returns

We will send you a confirmation email detailing the exact order received shortly after your order is placed. 

After you have placed your order online, we will send you an order confirmation. After we send your goods we will send you an e mail with subject 'Shipped' expected delivery timescale and parcel tracking number. 

If you haven't received this email within 24 hours of placing your order or your products have not been delivered within the timescale stated in the email, then please send our Customer Service team an email using our Contact Us section or call us on  01482 686030 between 8am and 5:00pm weekdays only. 

We deliver to most postal areas in the UK, but we're sorry that geographical location and carrier availability can restrict our service. Delivery of certain products to the Channel Islands, Isles of Scilly and the Isle of Man and the Republic of Ireland may be possible at extra cost.

There are a small number of postcodes, usually in remote rural areas, where we cannot guarantee delivery within our usual timescales.

Note:  In most cases we suggest waiting a minimum of 5 working days before contacting us after your dispatch email has been sent.

All items are delivered FREE to mainland UK, Wales and parts of Scotland within 5 days from the order date if over £50. Remote parts of the UK may be subject to an increased delivery cost. Our full delivery and returns policy can be found here.

We offer free standard shipping to the UK on orders over £50.

For UK orders under this amount we charge a flat rate of £10.

For customers residing in Ireland and most other European countries our shipping rate is £20 for orders under 25KG.

We are also able to offer international shipping, please contact us for more information on these rates.

We are able to ship internationally, our delivery rates vary depending on your location.

No, due to the nature of our business we do not allow the general public on site. We do offer free UK delivery on all orders over £50.
